Chinese Happy New Year
"Happy New Year"
A beautiful butterfly soars & red Chinese lanterns flutter in the wind over a quaint Chinese village celebrating the New Year.
Vintage GUESS George Marciano Denim Jean Jacket was embellished with a textile art piece.
The applique began with a piece of Designer Kaufmann Chinese Toile fabric. I cut red circles out of fabric then bleached a portion of them for the bottom of the lanterns. Free motion embroidery was done to complete the lanterns as well as adding sequins & rhinestones. A pretty blue denim butterfly was add and the applique attached. The lanterns swing from strings of vintage black velvet that has a glitter print that just twinkles in the light, sequins & diamond like rhinestones top the lanterns. Different colored sequins were used for the strings of the lanterns. Click HERE to purchase.

"Redwood Forest"
This unique piece started with a brand new w/ tags vintage-ish Jones of New York Robe with a pretty leaf pattern. I cut a opening in the back to just under the waist. There I added a leaf pattern silky olive fabric making 2 darts on each side to gather & drape. I also added some leaf shapes to the bottom and the top of the robe. Free motion embroidery for little branches. Next I added a vintage beautiful brown soft silk fabric with little gold metallic sparkles that twinkle in the light to the sleeves & bottom. Trimmed in a pretty wine color scalloped lace. A bow of sorts was added to the bussel, which is a tube that holds several draped pieces of fabric.
